Vaughan holds off Barrie to advance to Semi-Finals

In a quarterfinal battle between two wild card teams, the Vaughan Kings would reign supreme as they advance to the semifinals after beating the Barrie Colts 3-2.
With a goals from Stefan Chukharev (2, 3) and Carter Kostuch (5), Vaughan held a 3-0 lead till late in the second. Owen Bruining (2) would get the Colts on the board to cut the Kings lead down to two heading into the intermission.
2008-born Logan Hawery (4) scored on the power play late in the third to draw his team to within one, but Vaughan’s strong defence didn’t waiver to hold on for the win.
In a close game that took a full team effort, Chukharev spoke about his team’s performance saying, “That was a big win for us, we are trying to win it all and it’s taking a full team effort from everyone to do it.”
With his two goals in the game, Chukharev earned BARDOWN Player of the Game honours for Vaughan, while Hawery received the honours for Barrie.
Owen Bruining (2-4–6) had six points and underage talent Logan Hawery (4-1–5) had five points to lead Barrie in scoring, as the Colts finish with a record of 3-2
Vaughan will now take on the OMHA champion Peterborough Petes in the semifinals tonight at 8:00pm.
