Thunder Bay overcomes Waterloo for first win

Carter George made 30 saves as the Thunder Bay Kings picked up their first win at the OHL Cup Powered by Under Armour, defeating the Waterloo Wolves 2-1.
Down 1-0 just 15 seconds into action on a goal from Waterloo’s Nolan Shaw, the Kings battled hard scoring two unanswered with Matthew Lysak (1) and Max LeDuc (1) finding the back of the net.
Waterloo outshot Thunder Bay 31-13, but George answered the call, making the difference for his team.
Earning player of the game honours George credited the team in front of him saying, “our defencemen helped to clear the puck out of the front of the net, and as a whole we played a good defensive game. As a team we played unreal.”
“It’s tremendous, to pull out a win here is massive for us and we’re all going to enjoy this one,” he added.
Thunder Bay will play their final game against the Huron-Perth Lakers Friday at 11:15 am. Waterloo will play the Quinte Red Devils Friday at 12:00 pm.
