Sens down Frontenacs 4-3

Fresh off a 3-1 Wild Card Play-In victory over the Halton Hurricanes on Tuesday, the Mississauga Senators made it two in a row, slipping by the Greater Kingston Jr. Frontenacs 4-3 as Player of the Game Kevin Paschalis had a goal and two assists.

Paolo Battistella buried the game’s winning goal 7:47 into the third period with assists from Christian Gaudreau and Josiah DeGazon, getting the Sens out of the gate quickly with a 1-0 record to start the showcase.

“I liked what our guys brought,” said Senators head coach Gary Camilleri. “It’s been a struggle for us to score goals this season and to get four here was nice. Our goaltender (Zion Miceli) was excellent as well.”

Mississauga’s penalty kill was called upon regularly as they held Kingston’s man advantage to a 1-for-6 mark.

“The primary area of concern for us has been our discipline,” Camilleri continued. “We can’t afford to continue giving opponents so many opportunities. There are a number of teams that we’ll face this week that can take advantage of that.”

A Cole Edwards hat-trick was overshadowed in the loss as the Kingston forward provided all three of his team’s goals while Tyson Moore pitched in with two assists.

Mississauga – Kevin Paschalis (1G, 2A)
Kingston – Cole Edwards (3G)
