Sbaraglia, Kings blank Waterloo 4-0

Christian Sbaraglia continued his stellar OHL Cup showing, stopping all 13 shots he faced as the Vaughan Kings defeated the Waterloo Wolves 4-0 to clinch a spot in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

Sbaraglia, who sports a bright red catching glove he has fittingly named “The Lobster”, has surrendered just one goal in 113 minutes of action, but credits those totals to the team in front of him.

“The guys make my life a lot easier when they’re blocking shots, clearing pucks and taking away lanes the way they are,” he said. “We’ve come here and played Kings hockey and its paying off now that we get to play on Saturday.”

Feisty blueliner Nathan Staios netted a pair of goals while Daniel Nardi and Kosta Manikis added others. Nardi finished the game with a goal and two assists while Manikis had a goal and a helper.

The chippy game featured a total of 17 power plays as both sides were involved physically.

The ALLIANCE Finalist Waterloo Wolves end their 2017 OHL Cup Showcase with an 0-3-1 record. Offence was hard to come by as they scored just twice over their four game schedule.
