Red Devils draw even, edge Kings 3-2

The Quinte Red Devils had another strong start, but this time they saw it through to the end.

Luke LaPalm (2) scored the game winner, finishing with a goal and an assist as Quinte rebounded from a 5-3 loss to the Toronto Marlboros on Tuesday night with a 3-2 win over the Thunder Bay Kings.

“Yeah our first period was good again, which is what we need,” said LaPalm post-game. “The Marlies are a good team and they showed it last night. I’m happy that we kept our foot on the gas this time and got the two points.”

Daniel Michaud (2) and Aidan Treverton (1) scored first period goals before Thunder Bay’s Jack Cook (1) put his team on the board 7:26 into the second period.

LaPalm’s power play goal put Quinte in the driver’s seat up 3-1 as a Hunter Matyasovsky (1) goal 2:16 into the third period wouldn’t be enough to bring Thunder Bay all the way back.

“Our team has been through a lot this season. We really enjoy playing together,” added LaPalm. “I think we’re all enjoying being here at this event and we want to make the most of our chance. These sorts of things don’t come along very often.”

Alex Lucas earned the win in goal for Quinte as the Red Devils improve to 1-1. They’ll face the Waterloo Wolves at 12:00pm on Thursday.

Thunder Bay returns to action against the Toronto Marlboros at 7:00pm.

Quinte – Daniel Michaud (F) – 1G
