Nastasiuk nets three as Colts blank Flyers

Matt Nastasiuk buried a hat-trick while Barret Kirwin registered three assists and Rhys Brown added two, leading the Barrie Jr. Colts to a 4-0 victory over the Don Mills Flyers.
The win gives Barrie two big points after they opened the showcase with a loss to the Mississauga Rebels before playing to a 2-2 draw with the London Jr. Knights on Wednesday.
“That was a big win for us, we needed it,” Nastasiuk noted. “Browny (Rhys Brown) fed me a real nice pass on that second goal and we were on the same page all game. Our PK came up big for us too.”
The Colts held Don Mills to an 0-for-7 mark on the man advantage, silencing an offence that had been dominant through two games. Don Mills put six on the board against both the London Jr. Knights and Elite Hockey Group.
Nastasiuk, who is the younger brother of Owen Sound Attack graduate Zach Nastasiuk, follows in the footsteps of his older brother who represented Barrie in the 2011 OHL Cup.
“I think we’ve yet to play our best hockey here,” he continued. “Our powerplay hasn’t really clicked yet and I know we’ve got more to prove in our next game on Friday.”
The 1-1-1 Colts sit a point behind the Mississauga Rebels and the Don Mills Flyers in the Shanahan Division.
Barrie goaltender Jacob Ingham came up with some big saves throughout the contest to record the shutout.
