Kings edge NOHA 3-2

After a tie on Tuesday night, the Vaughan Kings knew they’d need a win against Team NOHA to stay competitive in the Lindros Division.

Goals 29 seconds apart in the opening minute of the second period put the Kings in the lead 3-1 as they’d hold on for a 3-2 victory to improve to 1-0-1.

Now in his second OHL Cup tour of duty, Cole Perfetti (1) scored the game winner and expressed his pleasure with the result.

“We had two ties last year and still managed to get into the playoffs, but it’s not something you want to chance,” he said, alluding to his experience with the Whitby Wildcats last spring.

“We all think we have something to prove here,” he added. “We made it to the GTHL semis and came up short. This week gives us a chance to end the season on a high note and we’re all giving one-hundred percent┬áto make that happen.”

Liam Babcock (1) and Daniel Baldassarra (1) also scored for Vaughan while Marco Constantini made 25 saves.

Team NOHA falls to 1-1-0 as Pacey Schlueting (2) and Justin Mauro (1) found the back of the net while Owen Kilganon made 25 saves.

Vaughan returns to action on Thursday at 12:30pm when they take on the Peterborough Petes (2-0-0). Team NOHA hits the ice at 10:15am on Thursday against the Oakville Rangers (0-1-1).
