Complete team effort puts TPH over Brampton 4-1

It was a good morning for American teams, more specifically, for products of the Detroit Belle Tire U16 program.

After Elite Hockey Group’s Dalton DuHart netted a hat-trick to give his club a 4-2 win, Belle Tire teammate Dylan Wendt came up with a goal and two assists to lead the TPH Thunder over the OMHA Silver Medalist Brampton 45’s 4-1.

Wendt, who hails from Grand Haven, Mich., joined Tag Bertuzzi, Johnny Beecher and Jeff Kocek on the scoresheet for TPH.

“It’s tough to prepare when you’ve never faced these teams, but we scored early and kind of went from there,” said Wendt. “They played a pretty structured game but we were able to use our skill and talent to make things happen. It’s fun what you can do when you get a lot of talented players on the ice together.”

Cameron Rowe recorded the win in goal for TPH, surrendering Brampton’s lone goal that came off the stick of captain Brayden Guy midway through the second period.

After going winless in last year’s OHL Cup, TPH is back in business to start the week.
